Jessica's daily walk to work

DSC_9294.jpg

For those who might be interested in a *sneak peek* of Bergen, and of my luxuriously short walk to work. The striking lack of people in an otherwise crowded city is explained by the fact that I took these pictures on a Sunday afternoon, when the shops are closed.

Finally did our household goods arrive!

It took 5 months!

Shipped our houshold goods 25 November 2008 from New Zealand but it did not arrive Norway until 24 April 2009! I was no longer able to recollect what stuff we shipped and what we gave away before leaving New Zealand. Nothing seems to be broken in the process, at least nothing expensive or irreplaceable are damaged!

Back to Norway

Our amazing adventure in New Zealand has come to an end...sigh... Fortunately a lovely winter was waiting for us in Norway when we arrived.

We miss all our friends in NZ already, thanks for the good times and we hope to see you again soon, either on your shores our ours!  Our new address from 5 January is in the column to the right, we'll be hanging with friends and family in the northern part of Norway until then. Who knows what the future will bring after our two years in Bergen?

Keep in touch!  love from Jess and Stein

Jessica stole my office space

DSC_6191.jpg

Friday Jessica and I agreed to share office space. Jessica defined sharing as, I'll take the work desk, you find somewhere else to work. Poor poor me had to sit outside in the sun with Mr. Carlsberg as my only friend.

Wicked wind from the Northwest

vannet var borte

Saturday 5 October was a norwester day, and we thought it would be perfect to have a quick sail out on Lake Ellesmere. But when we got there, there was plenty of wind but (!!!) no water.

Is Your Son a Computer Hacker?

Author: T Reginald Gibbons

As an enlightened, modern parent, I try to be as involved as possible in the lives of my six children. I encourage them to join team sports. I attend their teen parties with them to ensure no drinking or alcohol is on the premises. I keep a fatherly eye on the CDs they listen to and the shows they watch, the company they keep and the books they read. You could say I'm a model parent. My children have never failed to make me proud, and I can say without the slightest embellishment that I have the finest family in the USA.

Sau i solnedgang

Sau i solnedgang

New Zealands versjon av den norske harry kulturens Mona lisa "Elg i solnedgang" som man kan finne på alle kvalitetshoteller/kafer rundt i Norge. Regner med at denne med tiden kommer til å bli like berømt.

Classic Sesame Street

Probably one of my favorites, and we never get tired of watching it. Enjoy!

Mossman Gorge, Queensland, 24 August 2008

Mossman River

Saturday after the ISME conference, SMB and I booked ourselves into Port Douglas together with two of my colleagues from New Zealand, Carolyn and Jana. On Sunday we decided to hire a car and give ourselves a tour of the Mossman Gorge, a national park just a few kms from our hotels.

Rainforestation Nature Park, Kuranda, 21 August 2008

On Thursday evening during the conference all guests were driven by bus about 1 hour up into the mountains, to the Rainforestation Nature Park in Kuranda. The conference organizers had rented the entire park for us, and we were free to wander around, eat the (mediocre) food they had prepared for us, and interact with the animals and the nature of the rainforest at night.
